Regalia

To preserve the dignity, identity, and uniformity of our Ancient Craft, the M.W. Stringer Grand Lodge issues this directive on Regalia Standardization and Masonic Dress for all Brothers within the Jurisdiction of Mississippi. This guidance ensures that every member understands what is permitted and what is prohibited when representing the Craft in tiled meetings, ritualistic work, official visitations, and public Masonic functions.

Only authorized regalia—consistent with Prince Hall–recognized standards—may be worn. This includes properly designed aprons, collars, jewels, and accessories that reflect the Brother’s correct degree or office. Items containing non‑traditional symbols, irregular decorations, altered colors, or non–Masonic imagery are not permitted and may not be worn under the authority of this Grand Lodge.

Approved Dress Code

  • Regular Communications: Dark suit, white shirt, dark tie, black shoes
  • Degree Work & Formal Events: Black suit, white shirt, black tie or bow tie, white gloves (when required), and authorized regalia
  • Prohibited: Casual clothing, novelty Masonic apparel, or any regalia purchased from unverified vendors that does not meet Grand Lodge standards

This policy is issued to prevent Brethren from purchasing unauthorized regalia that cannot be worn and to maintain the uniform appearance that reflects the honor and tradition of Prince Hall Masonry in Mississippi.

For clarification prior to purchasing regalia, Brothers should consult their Worshipful Master or the Office of the Grand Secretary.
